My buddy got a shotmaker to start making shot he is the shotgun reloader and shoots alot of skeet. I got alot more room in my shop then he dose and we have been fine tuning the process for better shot and less work. So far we have made enough shot to pay for the machine and make some extra cash. If you are thinking about getting a shotmaker talk to me and i will give you some tips that will save you alot of time and money maybe. We use hyl oil for the coolent and wash with water based thinner but have changed to transmission fluid that we got from a transmissin shop used its free. And its thinner a 7 nozzle dripper will drop about 40 to 50 lbs a hour I found out later he could have gotten a larger model for a little more money. There are alot of small leasons I have learned since I started and dont mind helping someone else out. Just selling local and a few swaps wws for shot main proplem now is not enough lead around to make the shot I could sell and I think we have drove the price of lead up here by buying all the lead we could find. So keep in mind if you cant get lead at a good price it will take you longer to make you money back.

oh yea you can make one with your freinds help it would not be to bad look around and there are some nice looking homemade ones out there. The one we got was 425.00 and is cast iron 220 unit you can buy the nozzles for about 70 bucks and build you own the nozzles seam to be the hard part.

remember what free advice is worth!!

soapstone your dribble (now that is scientific) tray.

Get a little more distance to your "coolant"

I think the soapstoned surface starts the lead to form a sphere from surface tension and then the drop distance allows it to complete this function before the coolant sets it.

I bet if the coolant is to viscous the balls are little flattened.

Remember this is all a SWAG from someone that has never done it.

Hey I am from a long way away, have a briefcase, am making WAGS based on no experience and telling you it will solve your problem . . . I must be a consultant . . . Invoice for services rendered will be in the mail <LOL>

Hope some of the ideas I suggested do work. I do the soapstone first.

my machine is a new design it dose not like soapstone i use grease and its the fall that will make flat ones and another thing if the drop from the nozzles is to far the shot also will be effected size and shape but the fluid will effect it to. Thanks for the tips how about one on how to sort 500lbs fast thats my main problem.
