Is anyone using any of the Accurate Arms powders in their .458 Win Mag. Loads?

I'm looking for a usable load for 500gr boolit in the .458, since I have a bunch of 8100 and some of the other AA powders would like to see if there is something usable with them. Thanks :-?

8100??? Are you sure thats not 3100 or perhaps 8700?

My error, 3100, also have a bunch of H4350 and 870. Sorry.
I haven't done any reloading for a number of years but still have a number of unopened canisters of powder, hope they are still good. Excuse my ignorance i am trying to do a rush re-learn. Just hoping I have some powder that will work in the .458. I need to get some new reloading manuals all of mine are pretty old and have limited reloads for this caliber and nothing for cast bullets.

It is so important to get them numbers right when exchanging load data. There are many powders with similar sounding names or numbers but vastly differant burn rates.
Say for instance if someone were to use data for re#7 but use aa#7 powder they could get into lots of trouble. Burning powder has been a big part of my life and I tend to notice when the numbers dont jibe with the application.
No offence ment just trying to help keep what we do safe.
BTW accurate arms gives load data for the three powders you mention in the 45/70 accept their version of 870 is 8700. It will be safe to use your H870 in place of AA 8700.

that 8100 threw me also i went to get my aa book and couldn't find it in there

AA3100 is very close to the same burn rate as H-4831. If you can find data for H-4831 in .458, you could safely use it. I've read that some people use H-4831 in 45/70. However, 3100 is way too slow for any velocity to speak of in .458. It works great in my .300WM!

something like 2495 would be alot more appropriate. 2230 would work well too.
