Why not? I hate BUYING bullets, so I enjoy my hobby of casting them> I see no reason not to use my home cast powder coated projectiles in my newest fun toy, the CZ Scorpion EVO S-1 pistol?

It started out stock, with the only thing I did was moving the hand stop back for a different feel on the grip.

That was very strange but fun to shoot, with one teeny problem.

See where the safety digs into the trigger finger knuckle? That was painful, very uncomfortable. I ended up not waiting for the now ubiquitous Safety Delete from CZ-USA that solves that problem neatly - no, I removed it with a HACKSAW! Bubba strikes again. I played with the CZ supplied single point sling - this thing has so many adjustments, buckles and such that it was almost impossible to figure out. See, we never had slings like this when I was in the service 30 years ago. :) It did work out.

Added my one and only red dot, a TRS-25 I've used for years, and discovered it co-witnessed with the sights, bonus! Threw on some discounted rail covers to eliminate the cheese graters.

The Scorpion was having ZERO issues with any load I tried, factory, jacketed or cast, just kept on eating everything with ease. Still does, can't make it jam.

I moved away from the fancy paper targets and started considering it as a home defense style firearm as well as a fun gun, so the infamous Thugly became my target. 9"x14", the K Zone on most two legged predators I would think. Video time. :)

But something wasn't quite right, so I adapted again. More video.

The Thordsen Cheek Rest really makes a difference. This photo taken just yesterday with the Scorpion on the line. Note the cheapo WalMart flashlight mount and Surefire G2 Nitrolon flashlight mounted. Very easy to activate with the support hand while keeping a steady grip.

Long story short, the Scorpion loves the 124 and 125 grain boolits I send down range, and the velocity difference is noticeable between it and a comparable pistol, in this case, a CZ P-09. Yes, these loads ARE over listed maximum, I know.

So there you have it, a little intro to a very fun pistol that will be morphing into an SBR as soon as I can afford it. Hope you enjoyed it - we'll get into the incredible ease of breakdown and cleaning later.

nice work with the hack-saw.
a short rifle is how I would see this one too.
some hi-cap magazines and an ammo can full of cast boolit loads would make this thing pretty dang fun to have at the range.

This one is near the top of my buy list. Hopefully my profit sharing check is decent this year :)

I've been eyeballing it very hard. It would be awesome as a SBR with folding stock, but is pretty legit as is. Two would be awesome because double fisting tec-9's is so ghetto.

You plan on holding them both sideways don't you ;)

You CAN try to shoot this one handed like a real pistol...but your target better be pretty close, because this is a wee bit heavier than most sidearms. :) CZ-USA told me to mount the sling with the Cheek rest, (which REALLY makes a huge difference), but I haven't progressed to that yet. Even shooting reloads and cast boolits this thing just keeps on rockin'. runfiverun, 30 round magazines for this gun are soooo expensive...would you believe just under $20 each? Yep, try to find an MPX mag for that price. :) Actually, try to find ANY factory mag for that price! Mag carriers are also available, - here is the MOLLE dual 30 round mag pouch from the Czech Republic, (buy at cz-usa.com online store), mounted on a plate carrier. Mag pouch is 7.99 each, from CZ-USA. For about $50 you get two 30 round mags AND a pouch to put 'em in...plus tax and shipping, of course. Still...

This gun is just too much fun. Had a young kid, (13-14), recognize it on the line yesterday - THAT was very awesome.

Time to cast some more boolits - this thing EATS lead like candy. :D

And here I got excited about a fellow CZ61 Scorpion fan... ;)

Great work on modifying their newest version for a good purpose!

bruce, wouldn't mind trying the vz-61, handled one at NRA '09 when CZ-USA and Czechpoint USA had a brief alliance, but haven't after that. If I did get a vz-61, I'd get one of the new ones in 9mm Mak, easier to cast for and reload than that itty bitty .32 ACP. :)
The old one was the Skorpion, the new one changes the K back to a C. :) Fun all day long. Quick low quality photo of Scorpion with optional mag couplers from cz-usa.com - double the fun.

Very old ad, still listing CZ-USA as the manufacturer, when they never were. Best place for the Skorpion is CzechpointUSA. :) The vz-61 Skorpion is a machine pistol, whole the Scorpion EVO S3 is a sub-machine gun, little bit different. :) Still both are fun.

I'm not a real big fan of submachine guns; but I do think a tiny little buzzgun in .32ACP would be a blast.
