Green verdigris

How do I clean this stuff from my military slings and ammo pouches, and how do i keep it from coming back?

Well, all I know is that it's better to have green verdigris than purple verdigris... ;)

Rub 'em down good with plain old vaseline, it seemd to work as good as anything.

Polish the metal fittings with Brasso, use saddlesoap on the leather, and wipe everything down with neatsfoot oil. I give my slings this treatment about once a year.
