I missed opening day with yard work, three day early season. My friend Don came this morning and I gave him my SBH .44 and a holster. He never used a revolver before to hunt but I had him shooting. I heard him shoot about 7:44. Just after 8 I had a nice doe come in and I dropped her with my BFR. We both had nice deer. Now he is going to buy a .44.
Just how great to get the first deer with a revolver with the first shot? 151718 This is mine.

It would be pretty cool! 'Never killed one with a revolver.

There is a brand new unfired 7 1/2" stainless SBH here on the forum for trade, the owner might sell it outright.. (He should move quickly if he likes this one!):

I well remember the feeling. I was pumped! The guys on my lease weren't. First of all they didn't like the idea of anyone (not just me) hunting with a handgun. "Too many damned deer gonna be wounded and lost!". Second... it was a smallish doe. ;)

BTW larger doe, smallish bucks and one big buck fell. No deer was ever lost... by me at least. Couple of guys shooting 7mm Mags couldn't say the same thing.

Good going there, I just got my first cast kill this past weekend. Hellava feeling. I hope to take one with my 44 this year using solid non-expanding boolit. That's something I would have never tried before you, as well as others, posted pics of the internal damage caused by a big meplat boolit.

Congratulations on the hunt and good luck on your future hunts.

Nice. I'm telling myself that if I can get 2 in the freezer with the rifle, I'll take the 44 for the rest of season.

Nice. Killed my first CB deer last year with a 45-70. I carry a BH in 44 SPC or 45 Colt all the time. One of these days, one will present itself in the brush or close enough. And will be a CB also.

My puter had a problem so I could not get here. I used the BFR in .500 JRH. Here is his picture.
Darn, still can't get it. I don't know what is going on. Maybe clean off some pictures.
