I found 22 LR Blazer ammo at my small gun shop in eastern WA for $2.55 / 50 rounds

Not too bad a price now-a-days. Remember when it was 50 cents a box...ah, those were the days. A whole weekend of pinking fun for just a little pocket money.

Winchester Super X in a white box 8.99 use to have a shelf full now I have 2 whit bricks and one silver.thoses were the days long past I think I gave 9.99 for thw silver brick.and how long has Service Merchendise been gone lol.I am still seeing bricks for 60 at the loacal gun shows.Along with 37 to 40 for primers.the good news is I found a source for primers fer 25.i have done my best not to give the high prices for 22lr,primers or powder.I hope it will help the gougers see they will set on the stuff.

Good for you Mitch. People that take advantage like that for a buck are grave robbers and I will do without before paying those prices.

I got a bucket of 1400 Remington Goldens at the local Dunhams for $79, a bucket I bought years ago has a 59 dollar price tag on it, other to bad I guess, when I gave the bucket to my daughter and said, this should keep ya shooting for a while, her smile made it worth twice the price. It's the first bucket o bullets I've seen on store shelves at semi resonance prices in like 5 yearz.

I see enough 22 on shelves now that I am not sure how there is any gouging. The 2 wal marts near me now, they are always cleaned out. Small towns, so the same couple people still buying every round they get before it makes it to a shelf. But the LGS near me has been maintaining a decent selection of 22 for a while now. $2.50 a box for blazer seems to be the going price here, before the panic hit I was paying $1.99 at Dunhams, so the new normal. I see Midway has plenty in stock, seen every vender at the last gunshow had it. Tho they still seem to think they can have the prices up, then haul it home when nobody buys it.

Most of us remember $10 bricks of 22. I have a couple still, stuff I had put away, not like its bread and goes bad. Before the panic I had looked at what I had and figured maybe pile some more up. So was buying a brick or more a mo. Plus switched over to buying more target type(subsonic). So by the time it hit I really wasn't hurting for it. Even during the panic I could still manage to scrape a brick 100 at a time from the LGS, they never did any gouging. I haven't bought any in a bit, except I owed a friend $100 for a gun so bought him $100 worth of 22.

That on-line auction I keep referring to gets these same pails about twice a month. There is an auction going on now till Mon. night that has a pail listed. So far the price bid is $120.00!Robert

Seems to me that .17 Rimfire has been available all through the last few years, but 22LR is still rarely available. Why would .17's remain so readily available all this time but no .22's?

I was in Cabelas last week and they had ( literally) a ton of 22 ammo. Winchester plastic 100 packs 9 + a box and bricks for $39.99. Those prices don't fit my pocket book, but if I was totally out of 22 shells I would probably succumb.

I've actually been doing well at my local Walmart. I'm also noticing that only "premium" ammo on Gunbroker, seems to be selling. Also, my perception is that in the last month the number of auctions for 22lr has gone down by about half.

Still don't see much around here in 22 ammo and ran across some Winchester silver box Super X, high velocity hollow points for $3.50 a box. I grabbed five boxes since the only places with standard velocity around here want $10/100 in a sandwich bag.

I found 22 LR Blazer ammo at my small gun shop in eastern WA for $2.55 / 50 rounds Did it set off anyone's allergies when you blew the dust off that NOS?

Weekend gun show one table had some boxes of 500 for $43 table across from them had a painted sign that said "Make a Reasonable Offer". They had a huge assortment of different brands and packages from 50 rnd boxes to buckets in many flavors one does not have 30 different packages of the same ammo and only a few of each unless one was sourcing it from lots of places. Sticker prices were $15 more than the guy with only 500 rnd boxes. Think I saw a gouger getting stuck.

Wal-Mart seldom has any but I did find a 333 rnd box for around $25 out the door with tax one time in the last 6-8 months.

Last week at Walmart I was checking out the ammo case and there was a clerk at the counter. She asked me if I wanted any .22 ammo, she said she found two packages of CCI std vel. in holiday boxes under the counter. I said I would take it, she only offered me one but it was really three boxes of 100 in one box. With tax it was less than $24.

Visited Grices gun shop in Clearfield Pa today. Plenty of 22 LR on the shelf. Limit of 3 packages. I bought 3 packages of CCI that had 5 boxes of 100 in a package so ended up with 3 bricks. They also had buckets of Remington bullets, 1,400 rounds in a bucket, limit one bucket. Think a bucket was $99.

Visited a Field & Stream store today off of 70. All the Remington Golden bullets you wanted to buy, no limit, buckets of 1,400. While we were there a manager placed a sign on a couple of pallets indicating a $20 off price that lowered it to $79. That made the price $2.82 per box of 50. While I was there didn't see anyone buy a single bucket.

Still no 22lr available around here except for the "cheap" foreign stuff that they want premium prices for.
Walmart has nothing on the shelves and hasn't for a few years now. When I go to visit my daughter I can usually find some at a store up there so I stock up. My 22s need to be fed the same as my 38s.

I was at Grice over the weekend and the 22 prices are coming down. For bricks of Federal 22, they were 19.99 I believe and CCI Std Vel I think was going for 29.99 for a 500 rd brick. I did not see any limits on it and people were not paying much attention to it. The ammo resellers may get stuck with the overpriced stuff they were trying to push.

The local Gander Mountain has had some in stock the last two weeks. It's always the way. They have it before Christmas and Father's Day so they can sell guns to kids. If they still have any after mid January I'll be impressed. Not for the prices you guys are seeing. Best is about .08 a round. Most, like CCI minicabs are .10.

No Thunderbolt which is too bad as our Marlins like that best.

I walked around the gunshow in Raleigh a few weeks ago for a couple of hours and I didn't see anyone buying 22lr and very few buying powder. The 8lb jug of Bullseye that was priced $145 OTD was still there when I left. It looks to me like on the powder side everyone has bought about all they can stand and store. I went into my local Farm King store today and boy did I get a surprise. They had box after box of 22lr on the shelf at what seems like good prices.
Federal auto match 325 round boxes for $26.
Winchester M22 1000 round boxes for $60
CCI standard velocity loads 100 round boxes for $8.50
The bulk boxes were out on the counter and there were no limits. You could buy all you wanted. It felt strange after being so long without seeing any.
I went a few miles to my "local" gun shop and they had large quantities of 22lr as well. Prices were similar.
Looks like 22lr is making a come back.

There are still a lot of places here with the "premium" 22lr sitting on the shelves. Bulk packs are starting to make an appearance if you are on the right day. Seems to be the people flipping for profit have stopped buying and its back to regular shooters just stocking up 1 at a time. I know if I see it on the shelf I'll grab one but I don't feel the need to grab all of it.

Went by local Walmart doing some grocery shopping today. The always have 3-4 brands. Swung by to see if tbey have any more - something I might want. Added a "3 box max" sign for .22. Thogh the ammo case is full (nice to see), not one box of rimfire. Nada. Nothing.

They couldnt explain why. Soooo... its getting better. Its just not over. I HIGHLY recommend to everyone tbat is not stocked up to do so, slowly but surely betwen now and November. As has been the casebefore, we cannot see what the future brings. Be prepared. ;)

My local WalMart gets bricks once a month or so, and they sell out in an hour. I have to go to work so I can't be there at 8AM. After 3 years not seeing any, on my day off I went in and to my amazement they got some in that day and had 3 bricks left. So I bought one at $28.95.

I have a pile of old CCI gold plastic boxes, so when I got home I transferred them over for ease of use. Naturally, that made it easy to count them, though that was not my intent.

Anywhoot.....
There were 2 rounds missing.
In the box was an empty, but primed case.

I immediately e-mailed the manufacturer (USA, but I won't blast them by telling who) and they responded within minutes with a "sorry, etc", plus a UPS pre-paid label to return the lone dinky brass case, which I did.

Now it gets better....
A few days later I went to the range. The ammo was usable in a Ruger Mark III, but it would not fit in the chamber of a S&W Model 17, nor a Ruger Single Six. The case dimensions were just too large.

Back to the E-mail. Within minutes their customer service called me on the phone and wanted me to return the whole lot. I explained that I would keep them, but just use them only in firearms that they fit in. After 3 years with no .22 ammo I was not about to give them up.

Three days later I got a check in the mail for $20.00. Nice jesture, but I wonder where the QC has gone!

End of rant...
