I have a Ruger #1AH that I would like to have a ghost-ring type rear sight fitted to, but I haven't a clue as to where I might find one.

I have the rings for it and a small Leupold 3-9 VXIII but I'd like to keep the weight to a minimum; my eyes are getting marginal for the factory-supplied rear sight.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? This rifle will be a close range hunter.

Thank you Mica!

Those look to be just what I was looking for--Now to decide which way to go--I read the product reviews at Midway the NECG looks like it will mount on/in the place the rear ring would go the Skinner seems like the aperture would be a bit closer to the eye, a plus in my opinion.

The Skinner would be better looking but the NECG appears to be more robust.

Anyone have experience with these two sights?

Need help here I like them both!

EDIT-I ordered the Skinner for Ruger in blue finish.
Thanks again Mica.

I use the XS Sights kit on mine. Looks great, shoots even better.

I have the NECG sight too. It will not hold zero. Not what you want in a dangerous game rifle. I would be happy to sell mine to anyone who likes them.

I also have the NECG and have replaced the front sight with the NECG bronze partridge blade sight..
It comes extract tall so you can file it down for zero.
Ruger also offered a white bead front sight in two different heights..

.

Also, since the NECG peep sight utilizes the aperture locking/unlocking as the sliding elevation adjustment, it can loosen - and if the aperture is removed so the sight can be used as a ghost ring, the sight picture will have square sides, due to the distance allowing the straight inside edges of the sight body to be seen.

This is the Skinner

Additionally, IIRC, the Lyman 66RH sight can be mounted, via bar-type extender, to the side of the rearmost portion of the barrel rib.

The rib's detachable, so D/T the side of the rib is E-Z-Peazy.

I like the looks of the Skinner sight. If I were twenty years younger that is what I would mount on all my Ruger #1's As it is I need the help of a scope to do my best work.
I have never had any problems with the NEGC peep coming loose under recoil, but I only used it on a .405 win.

I do recommend this front sight for the Ruger #1 it is the best I have used.
