Plain Steel

While trying to clean the workbench, I found a 1/2" rod from an old repair. It is labeled Stanley National cold rolled plane steel. Does it have any use for swaging like punches or is it to soft?

It would be fine for a push thru style of punch. It is probably similar to 1018 CRS
