Back in the early 1960s I bought a Sheridan .20 pump Blue Streak. It took rabbits/squirrels and tin cans. Some years back it it got to where it wouldn't pump up at all. Sure would like to get it fixed, or even up-graded. Who does this kind of work?

I bought a kit from these people for my Silver Streak. They also sell the combination removal and replacement tool, which works for Benjamin air rifles too. It was pretty straightforward to replace the valve parts; it Works fine now.

Go to PyramydAir and enter Sheridan repair kit on their search feature. You need the kit for the pre '95 model. The only item I had to replace was the gasket (part 397-025) which allows compression of the air in the tube beneath the barrel. Easy fix; remove the roll pins at the front of the fore arm to allow sliding the forearm with piston attached forward and out of the compression tube. The hard rubber gasket which seals the piston in the tube needed replacing on my CB9- I'd forgotten to pump the rifle one pump before putting it away. Changed out the gasket; replaced the roll pins after lightly oiling gasket and the rifle worked great!

I went through my first gun, Benjamin 342, for my kid last year and took some photos of the rebuild.

Will give you a clue at what your looking at.

Mac1 has an impressive reputation in the air gun world.

There is a fair amount of information about them out there. They are not hard to work on if you want to do it yourself.

I used the kit from pyramid air this year and it worked fine. I reused the lead seal, and it keeps one pump in it indefinitely. Last time I checked it it was over a month with no leak-down. This is the kit I used. My gun is a 1964. http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/Benjamin_Sheridan_Repair_Kit_Fits_Some_Pre_1995_Mu lti_Pump_Guns_w_Soldered_Valve/624

I am not going to lie and tell you the job is easy. I have done my fair share of building 1911's, and assembling AR-15's, and I would rate this in between those. Not so much because of the fitting of parts, but unthreading, and threading the valve can be tricky, and on these antique guns finding a replacement if the threads get screwed up is not so cut and dry. I did see some extra valves on ebay when I did mine, so I know that if I screwed up there was a chance of saving it.

It's not that hard but as I wrote in the thread linked to on #7 you will be SOL of you damage the threads putting it back together. I also chose to reuse the lead seal.
