Would like to try Trailboss in a 38-55 Win, with the Lee 255gr and a Lyman 285 gr bullet. Need help.

Hodgdon's website shows Trailboss loads for that caliber.

I have been there, but it does not show loads for the heavier bullet. Searching the web shows some are using 10, gr ? I would think about 7 would be enough. even with the 285gr lyman bullet.

I am also seeing people posting about loading up to 11.0g of Trailboss in a 38-55, - but all the published data I find says max is 7.0g

There's a formula from the hodgdon website for trail boss in all cartridges. Double check to make sure, but I believe its to figure out where your bullet will be seated. Fill the case to the base of the bullet (not compressed) then weigh the charge. Take 70% of the weight of the full case charge and that is your starting load. So if your full case was 10gn then your starting load would be 7gn.
