What's the going rate for Contender barrels these days? I'm looking at 10 inch stainless 22 hornet and 44 mag, and a 14 inch Hunter 45-70 stainless. The guy is asking $465 for the first two and not sure on the 45-70. That seems like a lot but its kind of hard finding these in stainless.

I haven't seen any used ones for sale lately in my area but the last stainless barrel i bought was a 15" 500 S&W and it was almost $300 new.

All I say is to watch Evil Bay and they pop up there sometimes. Seems High.

For used in the Mpls area $150 to $250 is normal asking. Of the ten or so that I purchased I never paid more than $225. This is all within the last two years. Mine are all blued.

In stainless and considering the low number of 22 Hornet barrels available , That might not be too far off on price.

Ed's Contenders, edstc.com has some good deals, there's a stainless Hunter 14"45-70 in swap & sell for 270 + shipping. Watch out, buying contender barrels can be hazardous to your wallet! You can't stop at a few!

Makes custom barrels appear much more affordable.

I have or have had about 15 different barrels for my Contender, and have paid from $125-250 for them each, all used, and all blued. But they do seem to be going up a bit lately.

That MGM sight is great. I just specked a 22 K hornet pistol barrel, set up with the exact twist and profile I want and the price came out to $275. Standard blued pistol barrels start out at $250. If the quality is good, these are a great value. No sense in buying a used barrel for near the same price.

FYI... Pistols are also allowed to have 16+ inch barrels if you want.

Fastcar, have you shot any cast boolits through that barrel? I am wondering what twist rate to order.
