I've thrown in on the NOE boolit as both a PB and GC. I know I can patch it up for a x39 I have .
I have this probably special ordered 110 LH that has a stupid long throat and according to my notes a 1-8.5 twist . It likes a .312-314 but is over all .300x308- .
I suspect it was ordered by a moose/bear hunter and fed a diet of 225s throughout the late 60s then just put away until someone got broke or inherited it and found it wouldn't shoot the 90s ammo and hocked it.
I remember checking the twist about 6 ways and about 10x and coming up with 8.25 - just less than 9 so this particular chupacobra does exist.
I have a poorly made but functional 200gr spire point PB mould that just misses my needed ftlb@range mark whether I send it along greased up or neatly swaddled in paper. It simply goes off on its own to points unknown. I suspect that it slumps unevenly as it did it 1st at about 1600 fps with 50/50 WW / 1-20 but went on up to 1800 when it was changed to 75/25 . Oddly enough it will run up to 1700 patched in the 24" x39 sk s in either alloy .
So I have a 300 x 308 30-06' and it has enough twist to shoot the 311-230. Strelok says that this combo only needs about 1800 fps (I'm looking for 1900 as a long margine for error ) to meet the ftlb@range numbers. Strelok says at 1900 fps ,100 yd zero , it has a 10.5 inch hold over at 200 yards and is over the minimum energy limit by 50% . I have sufficient 4350,4831 and W857 to shoot nearly full cases (I don't see full cases happening with any except the 857). The big question is will the boolit profile stand the launch at a WC 75/25 alloy or a 50/50 or even an AC WW ? I know the 1st 2 will ......should expand like some cousins in coats and hunting is the ultimate quest, that would be the make or break .
