I have accumulated about 14 buckets of clip on Wheelweight and needed to move and condense the pile. I have about 580 lbs of ingots. From about half of the buckets. Will try to smelt the other half tomorrow.

The smelter is about a 14" pipe and will hold about 400 lbs of lead if I remember my calculation correctly. The ingots are about 8 lbs each and fit nicely into a Lee 20 lb pot.

That looks like a good days work. I need to build a bottom pour smelting pot. Bending over to smelt a large pot of lead is rough on the old back.

Having a big stack of shiny ingots kinda makes the backaches not so bad.

I have over a thousand pounds smelted and will have to move them and all my reloading stuff next year. Not looking forward to that.

Last batch of ingots I built some wooden boxes that held 7 ingots each. 56lb boxes aren't too bad. The boxes before that held 120 lbs. Those don't move so easy.

I got a bright idea for my ingots. Milk crates... the kind that hold 4 x 1 gallon jugs. They lay in a pattern perfectly. Filled one up about half way and went to hoist it over where I was going to stack them. No. Not a bit. Not even a skooch. I couldn't even slide that SOB across the concrete only 1/2 filled! I have about 6 now. All filled about 90%. Might as well just be stacked up loose because ain't no way, no how I can move a whole crate. But they are all stacked away and neat. I guess neatness counts, huh?

My stash is also in milk crates and a full one weighs about 700#. Make sure you load it where you want it to stay!

What do you use of ingot molds

3" C channel with angle iron welded on the ends. I built 8 of them but only rotate 4-6 of them when pouring ingots.

The ingots are roughly seven and a half to eight pounds depending on how full I fill them or over fill them

I bought 8 cast iron frying pan ash trays from Bass World some years ago. They make a neat round disc of anywhere beween 1/2 " to 3/4" thick of three inches in diameter. They stack well and I have been moving them around since '95. It is a major PITA to move my stash and gun safe. Presently they are all piled into a plastic storage container of about 3' x 2' and 18" high. I have it covered with a tarp and it is full to the top. The safe is bolted to the floor of my Wife's garage about 12 miles from my modest trailer which is in a very bad neighborhood. I only keep a few weapons here in the trailer, one in the truck and always one on my person. If someone breaks into my trailer they will find zero guns when I am gone and if whilst I am home there will be severe consequences.

I really need to get serious about moving outta this dump into a real house with modern utilities and more room for my stuff. The thought of going through and discarding **** that I have been collecting since Nixon was president is what nightmares are made of.
