My son has a 45 LC , just bought , wants to know if my 452460 will work in it.
Can't see any reason it wouldn't says I.
What say you guys?

That's my guess. Maybe see how loa comes out with a seated boolit.

Depends on how old it is. The old ones used .454 groove diam and
usually larger throats, sometimes WAY larger.

My mold throws right at .453, so shooting it in .456 or maybe even bigger
throat and a .454 barrel is likely to produce lots of leading and very
little accuracy.

However - my Ruger BH has a .452 barrel and came with .450 throats,
which I opened up the .453. This design would likely work well in
that pistol.

I have no doubt that this very accurate boolit design for the .45 ACP
would prove accurate in a revolver - if you can match the throat and barrel
sizes properly.

Been using the 452460, 452423, and 454424 in my Ruger BH for years. They work fine in mine, you just need to tailor a load for yours. Determine your cylinder mouth and barrel diameters and go from there.

You might even try the H&G 68. I've not, but who knows?

Thanks all. This was about what I expected to here.

Bill: It's a new gun. I understand about the 452- new and 454 and up - old.
C1:I will slug groove and measure throats when I get a chance.
My mould throws um at .4525 , they clean up after sizing all but a smige at 452.

I have to tell you: I'm 50 years young, been casting "something" for 40, was content with that....till i found this site 6 mo. ago.
Iv'e now become excessive/compulsive. I'm out of controll here.
What I know about casting I have learned 99.9% from the guys on this site.
You all really are great , and smart too, and maybe a little nuts.
Thanks again.

That's a very well appreciated compliment. The "a little bits nuts" part is especially heartwarming. Thank you so much!

The 452460 does just fine in the .45 Colt. I use a light roll crimp over the forward driving band. 6.5 grains of either Red Dot or W231 makes a nice target load.

I'll try it in my BH, since this is the most accurate bullet in my CZ/Dan Wesson
Pointman 7. It will do about 1.0" at 25 yds in that gun. It will be interesting
to see what the Ruger can do with it, since clearly this is a well balanced
boolit.

Now that I think of it, I should give it a shot [pun intended ;-) ] in my
USFA SAA, which has been pretty fussy so far.
