what has anyone tried? I'm looking to load jacketed bullets because the bore is rough. Nice rifle, 1885 Win. It's a shame not to shoot it.

Does it have a smokeless steel barrel? If it has an older mild steel barrel, I would not recommend jacketed bullets. They will wear out the barrel very quickly. Have you slugged the bore to see what size bullet you need? Brass is very scarce but can be made from 32-20 or 351 SL. There is some load information in this thread:
