Gonna take this one opening day. It is a CVA Scout V2 in .357mag with 14" barrel. Got this gun new, delivered off gunbroker for $295 including FFL fee. Got on Craigslist and bought the practically new Weaver Classic 2.5-8x28mm handgun scope from a guy in Colorado for $100 delivered. I put the 2 together and loaded up some 180gr NOE FP cast bullets and sat down to see how it plays. It will put them inside 1" at 75yds and that is about the max range that it will be used for. Chrono said the bullets are exiting at nearly 1600fps...a potent dose for deer. It will put that bullet through both shoulders of a deer without any problem. I have used 296 and gotten 1700fps...but the group opened up a little.

This is as much hunting handgun combo as I have ever put together for less than $400.

Picked one up used in BO to try out one morning the third week of November. if I like it as much as I think I will, I'll be on the look out for a Mag like yours.

A complete, first rate pistol for basically the price of an MGM barrel, I suspect the price is going to go up a bunch once these catch on.

BTW, I was hoping you were going to say something other than 2400. (LOL, unobtanium). I'd love to find another powder that shoots as soft and hits as hard as 2400,,,,,,,,

You are right about the scarcity...it is almost non-existent. But, I do love it for .357mag.

Nice looking rig. I've got two words to say. Magna Port. It works. Your into it at a low enough price point, you may as well spend a lil more on it. You know, to make it yours. Good luck on the opener and report back with more pics.

I have several now, and you are correct...they do work. In all likelihood, this will will go to Mike, in the spring, to be Maximized...so to speak...and when it does, I will have him put the brake "in" it...not Magna Port...but it works, nonetheless.

If you are getting that velocity from 12.8 gr of 2400, I can't wait to find out what I will be getting out of my 357 Maximum carbine with 15 gr. when my Lee 200 gr mold arrives next week. I have gotten lucky twice this year finding two 1# cans of 2400 in stores 500 miles apart.

I expect that it will be smoking...let us know what it is doing.

I got lucky Wed...found 8lb jug...it is on the way home.:-D

Until this jug, I had bought 2lbs since Sandy Hook, couldn't find it anywhere....don't know what will happen after this Oregon disaster.
