Yes , I hit everything with a soft wire wheel , it had a light coat of rust from sitting , it has NO pitting .

What is the matter with these idiots??? Using a steel wire brush or wire wheel on a mould, what are they thinking?.. At one time I had 45 H&G 8 & 10 moulds, always used a nylon bristle brush to clean them if needed...

How did you know to ask if it had been wire brushed or do you just do that to be sure? I could not tell from the pics but not really sure what the tell tale signs are.

You could just spin a nail down to make a new HP pin, or get Buckshot or Erik to make you a new one. That isn't the problem. The problem is the rounded edges of the cavities that was worn away by the wire brushing. If you cast a boolit with it now, it will have a Mohawk-looking stripe all the way around it where the molds don't meet flush and squarely anymore.

You can really see the rounded edges at the nose of the cavities. Should cast a nice fin.

Uniformly rounded edges.

The seller is a dolt.

Thanks, now I see what you mean.

I've been examining molds on eBay since 1995. I know the signs since I've seen a few hundred damaged ones by now.

The rounded corners and other rounding of sharp edges is a dead giveaway if you know what and where to look.
