I got quite a few of these 208 grain AMAX bullets in trade and want to try them out. Both my 308 rifles are 1x10 twists so they should stabilize. Hodgens lists the starting load as 35.2 grains of Benchmark with a max of 38.3 grains. Seated at 2.82" oil

My question is has anyone tried them? Opinions?

My Rem 700 .308 shoots them just fine out to 500m using Varget and a O.A.L. 2.830"

Friend is running them in his 300AAC, really likes them. I have a box I bought for my 300 win mag, but haven't really got to shoot them to see how they do.

They shoot really well out of my 300 Win Mag, have shot them out to 625 yards with good results, need better optics to push out further. I am using Norma cases and Accurate MagPro, hitting 2900 fps.

Never tried them in my 308s but have used maybe a thousand of them in my 300wsm rifles. At 2875fps the furthest I have shot them was 2163 yards. A lot of my friends have used my rifle with that bullet to get their first one mile hit. They are really impressive out of a 300 Norma at about 3150fps and will really go a long ways. It's my go to bullet for hunting elk with my 300wsm....Yea yea it's not a hunting bullet but it sure plays the part.

Good bullet, but I'd choose a different powder than benchmark.

What's the length on your barrel? To get the most out of these you're going to want a longer barrel to get that speed up. They'll work... but the question is more about what you're trying to do with them. Sure, you can toss them out subsonic but there are a lot of bullets that are more accurate at slower speeds. These are built to go fast.

I use 208gr in my 30-06 target rifle but that's got a bit more case capacity and I'm using a 30" barrel that was chosen specifically to throw these 208gr bullets down range at 2900fps. RL22 works very well for that application but I'm not sure how it would do in a smaller case.
