Have one of these bad boys inbound and was just looking around at various cast bullets and molds. When I pulled up Beartooth's site, I noticed a note saying the chambers in the Browning 71s are too short for Beartooth's only .348 bullet. Anyone here shooting cast from a Browning 71? What mold(s) are you using?

Like most leverguns in rifle calibres, 348's have little to no throat. You can fix this by having the rifle's chamber throated or, alternatively, buy yourself a Lee FCD and crimp the bullet in place so that loaded rounds still chamber and cycle freely.

With my Browning I use a Lee FCD and it works well. I use a couple of moulds made by Aussie mould maker CBE. If you do a search here you be able to find quite a bit of info on the 348 & cast.

I'm using RCBS 348-200-FN. It is made for Model 71 rifles.

browning 86 and 71 rifles are notorious for them having a short throat.
their 86's [45/70's] won't chamber some jacketed bullets.
it's about a 5 minute operation for any smith with the right throat reamer to fix the issue, and you can do it yourself at home.
