Something I had not noticed until closely looking at that wonderfull $5500.00 press. The handle pivot pin is long and knurled for removal. Why is that? Why would anyone want to remove the handle?

Second question, on the press that Lubedude pictured the two swage bars have small holes drilled near the bottom, again why?

And a heads up I just have to comment on the $5500.00 sale in the next newsletter. I would appreciate comments and observations from those who where just watchers and the bidders.

Ken - The knurled handle actually partially fastens the handle yolk. It's just one more cool factor of the ST :)

The pull handle itself is actually held in by a wing nut stud, an improvement over the set screw on the other Universal models.

The holes on the swage bars are necessary to get them tight. You insert a small rod or drill bit in the hole to torque down. It is quite amazing what little amount it takes to 'finish it off' to make tight as a bank vault.

While my swage bars are copies of originals made by MD Photographer, MD is the one who instructed me on how to tweak these bars.

To give you a perspective of how large this press is, look at the second picture of the base. That is where a Hollywood Universal Turret Tool AND a Hollywood Senior single stage press used to set!

Correction

Ken- 50 BMG was kind enough to remind me the REAL reason for the quick change handle rather than embarrass me on the forum.

The linkage attached to the yoke has an extra hole to do a quick switch for swaging. Similar to how the Hollywood single stage presses have an extra hole in the linkage to shorten the throw.

I remember showing this to my brother 3-4 years ago when I got the press and had a Blonde moment and totally forgotten this feature.

Thank You 50 BMG for the nice reminder!

This seating die for comparison should give you an idea of how large this pin is!

There is a ball indent at the end of the pin.
