Most of the jackets are not pure copper but an alloy that contains zinc, right?

I know we're not going to get temps high enough to melt the jackets durring the smelting process but is it possible to maintain a high enough temp long enough to "desolve" the zinc out of the gilding metal?

Metallurgy does not work that way.

Just re-melt, cast, and be happy.

and even if it did 5% of 10% isn't enough to make any difference, you'd never know it was in the mix.
