Got about 55 lbs. of free weights from my friends car dealership today. After sorting out the trash and not lead weights I wound up with 27 lbs of lead wheel weights. Getting fewer every trip that I can use, still that amount is better than nothing. I have approximatly 1K lbs. in ingots already, so I won`t run out in my lifetime for as much shooting as I do anymore.Robert

Free is sort of a tough price to beat for lead these days.

OUCH!!! I think my bald head with white hair `horseshoe` fringe along with my `30 miles of bad road` wrinkled face not to mention we went to school together just might get me that discount!Robert

Any score, big or small, is a good score when it's free or cheap. Wheel weights are still about my favorite alloy. It's too bad that they are getting harder to find.

Expect to see the zinc weights to disappear like lead. While metal prices are down at present, it wont last. Fe weights will over take everything. They already would have except for rust stains.
Those that complain about the % of zinc and Fe versus lead may remember that Gold once sold for $17. an oz. Now they are finding counterfeit gold coins and bars with cheaper metals embedded. Turns out it does have something to do with the price of tea in China.

The newest is plastic coated steel weights. No rust. Will definitely hasten the demise of lead.

Next thing they will do is have us fill the tires Half Full of sand.
It will work like a centrifical ballancing system.
And they then have a reason for our troops to be in Iraq.
The price of Sand will go thru the roof.

I know what the OP means, I quit trying to get wheel weights, the last bucket I got had more weights that I could not use than I could.

If you put the Federal Gov't in charge of sand there will be shortages in 6 months.

They were not free, but I did sort out 64 lbs of COWW at work today. I paid $.50 per pound.
