Anyone loading cast bullets in the 45 GAP? I'm looking for a soft load for practice. I put together a couple of loads to try on my Sunday trip to the range, a 200 cast swc over 3.5 Bullseye and a 200 cast rn over 3.0 Clays.

Walt,

Look in the "Truth about cast in Glocks" thread.

I don't have a soft practice load for you but both of those sound viable. I really enjoy my 37. I have it set up to shoot the GAP, 40 and the 9mm, very versatile.

Walt,
I have been shooting a M37 in 45 GAP for several years. I got a Bar-Sto drop-in barrel so I can shoot lead. I have been shooting a H&G #68 over 3 grains of Vectan BA10. I runs 750 fps, it is very accurate and meets the power factor for IDPA. I have run just over 5K thru the gun with the Bar-Sto in it and am very happy with the load.

Its on my to do list once I get into my new house.
I plan to do 230 grain lead. Most likely I will coat them with Hitek

My guess is those loads may be a little light to work the slide. My experience with the 1911 in .45 ACP is that around 4.0 gn. Of BE is required to work the action with the factory spring.

Thanks Cat,
I've added a bit of info to the Glocks and cast thread myself. I didn't recall seeing GAP info, I'll have to look.

I'm an old hand with the 45 ACP and the 1911 in particular. The 45 GAP is a different critter. I'm thinking my 200 grain 3.5 Bullseye load in the GAP will be close to a 200 grain lswc 4.0 Bullseye in the ACP.

Thanks for the info! The 750 fps #68 is about what I'm looking for. Good to see that'll operate the 37. I'm planning on running the stock barrel just like the rest of my Glocks.

You're welcome Walt.

I run lead through all of my stock Glock barrels also.

Well the 3.5 Bullseye 200 LSWC load is a winner. A little slower than expected at 680 fps but runs the 37 and accuracy is good with 50' 5 shot groups inside an inch and a half. I'm going to load the Clays at 3.5 also with the 200 LRN next time around. At 630 fps it wouldn't lock the slide on an empty mag and 5 shot groups were 2 1/2" at 50'.
