I didn't want to step on any of the other Hollywood Super Turret threads with this question - How sure are we that all of them have bases made out of aluminum and not steel? I realize all of those reported here are aluminum but has there been any evidence or suggestion that some were made out of steel?

Beeser,

I dont believe there were any steel units. I am not sure how to be 100% positive though. I have the original sand molds and they were used to produce aluminum presses. If a steel Super shows up, I would be extremely surprised. Here is the original prototype.

Well, Tracvision, considering how overpriced the second press is going for on Ebay, you have a ready market for new ones. I would be the first to signup.

I remember in an old Handloaders Digest, John Amber saying Hollywood was considering making a Super Turret in cast iron, and that it would way over 100 lbs.

Why couldn't the molds or plugs that you have be used to cast steel parts?
