Has anyone tried the group buy .30/120gr in a K31?????
Never thought of it before, but I'm thinking the smarter cast shooters would have.

Closest I've tried is the "Soup Can." First load I tried shot patterns, not groups. I don't think 7383 and the Soup Can is a very promising combination.

I've had zero luck with the "soup can" in any rifle I have tried it in.

This one (311672)

and the Lee C3121552R have been excellent performers in my K31's with 14 to 16 grains of 2400: won or placed in every CMP-type "vintage" match I have entered with them. The cartridge in the pic is the seating dummy for one of my rifles, so you can see where the gas check sits in the neck.

My 200 grain Lee mould fits the 1911-type Swiss chambers and groups very well in them, as their noses mike about .298, (which makes them totally useless for most .30 cals) but I have not worked with them in the K31's because the two 160-165 grain bullets have been so successful and the 200 grain bullet would have to be seated with the check below the neck in the short K31 chamber.

YMMV.

Don't have a soup can, but I've tried the 31141 in the K31 and it worked well.
There was just a slight amount of engraving when chambering.
It required closing the bolt quickly, but not slamming it, to fully chamber.
I was getting groups of just over an inch at fifty yards the first time out.
I haven't had a chance to follow up on this, hopefully before the end of summer.

Bob, I don't see how you get that round to chamber in a K-31. My Lee C312-160-2Rs measure .308" all along the long cylindrical "bore rider" behind the pointy ogive (the body sizes down slightly in a .314" die), and I've only got maybe 3/32" max in front of the case mouth on mine that a .308" bullet will go into before engraving. I have to slam the bolt several times HARD to get my Lee 200 grainers with slightly oval bore riders .302 x .304" to chamber. My bore diameter's .296", best I can measure with calipers, groove diameter is .308", there's only a short beveled "throat" like a revolver forcing cone about 1/8" long cut into the rifling in front of the chamber, and a .308" bullet's got to fully engrave to go in there if seated as yours is above. I couldn't do it. To use that boolit I'd have to seat it so deeply that only the ogive would stick out of the case. This makes me wonder whether the Swiss used different chamber/throat specs on K-31s at different times? Mine's a 1940.

me thinks the swiss don't care about what we call a "throat". thier gp-11 bullets are dual diameter. the section forward is much smaller in dia(0.300) than the base diameter...a bore rider condom bullet.......sorta what we are hoping for out of the 165 rcbs sillywet...

I loaded up 20 rounds of the GB 30 carbine, sized to 309, with 9.0 of 700x.
Shot 1 1/2 at 50yds, 4 at 100yds.
Chambering was no problem.
I think I maybe pushing it to fast, or the bullet is just to light.
