I was thinking about getting into the 45 Raptor on the AR308 platform. Has anyone here built one? I'm also curious as to whether 308 brass can be formed for the 45 Raptor. Thanks!

In looking at the case specs, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Looks like a few annealing operations during the process might be in order though and of course reduce the length. Might have to thin the neck depending on the brand of brass that you convert.

Apparently Starline is making brass for the round so that might be your easiest option.

Hmm... A lengthened .45-08...

Some pretty heavy case forming. Honestly it's more of a .460s&w with a .308 head. I'd just buy the brass. Getting good uniformity is gonna be tough.

It sounds to me like it's a .450 Bushmaster, (.45 Pro), except in a larger, heavier platform, with more work involved making the brass. The .450B is just a cut off .284 winch case. No "forming" required. Or, if you want it with a small primer pocket you just buy it.

I'd never heard of it somehow. It looks very interesting. I've been interested in a big bore AR, but the AR-10 platform does make more sense than a heavily rebated rim on the AR-15 platform.

I'm awaiting the 358 Yeti. Based off the 308 casing but fit for standard 556

That looks better than the 358 MGP if it comes together.

I'll have to keep an eye on that one... That might be the way to go instead
