Has anyone done any load development with this combination? I have about 7lbs of this powder and a new to me Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Colt. FYI the gun is the large frame circa 1974. I will be loading for big hog hunting. Thank you.

What weight boolit are you interested in shooting?

I'm thinking between 300-325gr and around 1100fps

Alliant lists this as a magnum pistol powder in all the popular big bores EXCEPT .45 Colt. I am sure this is because they don't want anyone getting one of these loads in a medium frame Ruger or a Colt SAA or clone.

In .44 mag they are listing 22.0gr for a 300gr boolit to 1,349fps which would almost be a comparable charge of H110 but I doubt 22.0gr of H110 would make that kind of velocity with a boolit that heavy in a .44 magnum.

In 454 Casull they are listing fairly close to what FA lists H110 for with a 300gr boolit so this 300mp has got to be fairly close to H110 in the big bores.

If you emailed them and explained that you want to use it in a large frame Ruger, and include what boolits and also give them the COA they may even share some load data with you.

Check cylinder throat diameter also. See if a .452" will go into the front of the cylinder throats.
