Very nice! What job was the melter used for?

The fellow I got it from said he used it to solder PC boards.
I just got done testing it out. It works well. I'm figuring on using it to try ladle pouring boolits. Grand total weight on the solder was 47#.

Excellent deal and very nice score.

If you don't have a ladle for ladle casting I might suggest the Lyman dipper, works well in my experience at a good price. RCBS also makes a similar model, There are more expensive bottom pour ladles that some consider superior but the prices are steeper.

I like ladle casting but then I don't do 6 cavity molds either so that may influence what works for me.

Thanks for the tips and links.
I have a 20# Lee drip-o-matic that I use currently. My brother tried it and did not get along with it very well (first attempt at casting). He decided he wanted to try ladle pouring instead and this deal came up. Seemed like a good tool for the job and the price was right. We were going to try it out using the ladle we use for smelting to get a feel for it (ladle casting). If that is more successful for him than the bottom pour we'll get a better ladle for casting boolits. We don't have any large molds either. Mostly 2 cavity.
