Ruger American 30/06 with cast.

This works...Brought home a Ruger American lefty for my oldest son this morning. Had a vortex 3-9 x 40 mounted on top. Out the door for $550, gunshop owner threw in a nice Allen padded case to boot!
Was going to do the usual load work up, but shot some ammo I had for one of my other rifles. This thing is a gem! My son is a hunter not a shooter, but shot a 2" group at 100 yard with ease. I was able to cut that in half with a five shot group.

Lee 309-170 FN ww+2%tin cut 50/50 pure lead
Ben's red and coated with 45/45/10 lube
Hornady gas check
35 grains of IMR 3031
Boolit was seated so the driving bands were in the rifling.

Wow...buy a new rifle, bring it home, throw some loaded rounds in it, and it shoots right off the bat. You wouldn't be able to get the smile of my face if it was mine lol!

Been hearing a lot of good reports on the Ruger American.

The best part is, I can finish my other projects instead of starting a new one!
