TC encore bbl 17" long with a .311 bore?

I'm pondering having one made as a cheap loading/casting low work to load high fun rifle. The only thing that bugs me about this is I am limited to a pretty fast 1-10" twist.

In you opinion would this be a significant detriment?

John Taylor built for me a .32 S&W Long single-shot in which we used a 10-inch twist .30 cal. barrel, because that is what I had. It works especially well with heavy bullet, subsonic, Cat's Sneeze loads, which was my intent. It is also very accurate with lighter 85-100 grain bullets as fast as I can drive with with a caseful of Alliant #2400 in the tiny case.

As long as the barrel is of good quality I wouldn't worry about it. You can drive a 150-grain bullet in the .327 to fairly good velocity, about 1300-1400 fps. from your short barrel, which is similar to reduced loads I shoot in my .30-'06 rifles having the same twist and they work just fine. If bullets fit properly you won't need a gascheck below about 1400 fps. This one works for me.

Depends on the weight of bullets you intend to use. For heavy bullets of 150+ gr for use at sub sonic speeds it would be good. However for most .32 cal bullets of 71 - 125 gr it would be spinning the bullets too fast. I would prefer a 16" twist at the fasted and probably a 18" would be best. Consider the twists that 32-20 and 30 Carbine rifles have if that is your intended velocity range.

Thanks for the input guys.

I assessed the options available to me from MGM. Given the too fast twist slightly incorrect .311" bore and added $100 cost for the blank I opted for the much more ubiquitous 9x19 on a .355" bore and 1-16 twist
