I have a LEE C309-180-R mould, and several hundred bullets cast up. I also have a 1916 (93) Spanish Mauser with .308 barrel. Does anyone here a mild pressure load that's equivalent to the original 7mm chambering they'd like to share? I have the following IMR powders to work with: 3031, 4064, 4198. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Ji

............Hey Unc, put 20.0grs of 4198 in there, and a bit of dacron if you use it and you should be set. You can go up from that 20.0 grain charge, but it would be a good place to start. Let us know how it does?

I've got a few US military rifles in 30 cal. A Krag. 2 ea. Model 1917 (one with five groove left hand rifling and one withe 2 groove right hand rifling, a 1903A3 Remington/Springfield w/groove barrel and a typical DCM M1 Garand. I would appreciate loading data (bullets, lube and powder charge) for accurate loads.
Thank you,

21 gr. of 2400 , behind a Lee 170 gr. works pretty well, for me. 30 gr. BL-C2 shoots better than I can, with this bullet.

This is in my Krag

You think the five groove left hand twist Model 1917 might be a P14 which is 303 British?

JR three loads that work pretty well in my two Krags are:

311284 WLR primer 3.4cc (48.7gr.) WC872 c.o.a.l. 3.100"
311299 WLR primer 3.1cc (45.1gr.) WC860 c.o.a.l. 3.060"
Lee 312-155-2R WLR primer 15.7gr. SR4759 (sorry I don't have a length for you. I can't find my dummy round that I set the seater die with and don't have any loaded at the moment). All boolits are sized to .311 and are cast of wheelweights and water dropped. These three loads are pretty consistent 1.5" groupers at 50 yards...Ray

Aloha Uncle,
I will be resuming testing with the same case, boolit, and those same powders, also RE-7, as soon as enough snow melts on the range that I can find one target holder, April maybe. I have a new .310 sizer coming from Buckshot that should help matters. I would stay way below 30gr of 3031 as I have had some serious leading above that level. (Maybe start around 18 and go up from there. I was sizing to .308, and though my .30-30's loved it, the .308 wants a bigger one. I have been using pure lino, but have cast a good selection of various alloys to see if I can go soft enough to get some expansion. Are you looking to cook up a load for pig hunting? I will post results when I have some, please do likewise, eh bra? It's been many years since I lived out your way, but you never really leave the islands, or the mountains.

Joe........the standard rifling for the 1917 is 5 groove left hand rifling with a 1 in 10" twist rate.

I'm building a 308 Win on a 1903 Turk Action that I intend to use for Cast bullets as well. I intend to use my Lyman 311291 170gr RN and my Lee 160gr TL bullets for most of the shooting. Any additional load data wold be great.
