I know i can experiment myself, I'm just wondering if anyone has the information. Has anyone found the sweet spot for loading CFE with a cast 155 gr .40 s&w bullet from a 18" barrel. I know it's a bit unusual, but lots of guys here are experts at unusual [emoji4]

I don't see any introduction thread, so I'll just say hi here [emoji4] I've been hanging out here for a while. I load for my .40 carbine.

I don't have my notes but I used an 85% max loading in my 40 with a 180gr boolit with good results.
Referring to CFE Pistol of course.
Edit, IIRC 6.2gr without my notes (95%)

Was that in a carbine or pistol ?

Make note this is for a 180 gr plated bullet. But you can look at the data from hodgdon and use plated data. Start low and work up

I ended up with 6.2gr IIRC. Start low and work your way up. Find your sweet spot and load load load and shoot shoot shoot

Welcome to the forum! I didn't see any rifle or carbine data in my Hodgdon Annual but I think Osteodoc has given you a good starting place. If you can find the Hodgdon annual for 2014 (or was it 2013?) they had a good article on the CFE powders.
