Any thoughts about using this boolit with a sabot over BP for deer hunting? I am pretty sure that in my inline rifle I can get it to good accuracy, but is it too light for the purpose? I have a bunch of these I use in my 45 ACP and I have used another type .452 boolit in the inline before but that one was heavier. If too light I wouldnt want to waste my time and the powder for this application. Thanks in advance. Joe

Give them a try and see. I don't know if there is any comparison but I'm trying out a 225gr FTX in my M92 Rossi 45lc for brush hunting. Test them out and see.

too short for the 1-28 twist guns, just right for the 1/32 twist through the 1/48 twist guns. if your gun is a 1/28 twist 50 cal and you want to use lead bullets get some sabots that hold a .458 bullet and shoot a short blunt nose 400 grain lead bullet. lee has molds for that also. i know mmp sabots makes a sabot for a .458 bullet and im shure others do also. they will all work in a 1/28 twist gun. if again your gun is from 1/32 to 1/48 twist .50 cal, that bullet you suggested will drive tacks at any range. have fun.

I took a heavyweight 4-point with 45acp bullet in a .50 sabot
go for it. mine is 1:48 twist

I use the 429-240-2R in my inline. I use a 33/66 WW/Pb alloy with 120 gr powder. I would definitely give it a try. Deer have run shorter distances with that boolit over the Nosler, Gold Dot, and Shockwave. Now I don't know about Tecksas heart shots. What the sabot bullet diameters specs? You may have to cast them fat.

Hmmm. I have the Lee 255gr & 300gr .452 mould. That would be a much less expensive way to employ an inline for hunting season.
And I also have the Lee 405gr .458 mould....just don't have prooper sized sabots

The 230 tc is a thumper for no more than it weighs.....

I use the LEE 230gr TC in my inline .50 with sabots. 50gr of BP keeps my shoulder from hurting yet stills puts the bullet out in an accurate way.

I have shot the .452/230 gr. out of my 1/20 twist carbine. Accuracy went south real fast when over 50gr of FF was used. Try em and see what happens for you.

huntsman, go to the mmp web site and get their orange sabots, as they fit a 458 bullet. if you gun is a 1/28 twist. with that sabot and a orange mmp sabot and 80 rains of powder behind it you could shoot to 500 yars and hit something very ver well. it will be a freight train coming. kens, that bullet of your in a sabot in a 1/48 twist is a real marriage and is perfect also for as far as you want to shoot it. always match the length of the bullet for the twist rate and then your in the perfect groove. everybody have fun. johnson 1942

I double checked my records. The other boolit that was accurate was a TL 429-240 2r which is a really diiferent size in L-dia and wgt

This is the 429-240-2R, did Lee make one like this in TL form? It has a BC of .196.

This is the TL-452-230-2R, did Lee make this in a regular bearing band style like the one above? It has a BC of .189, so very similar.

What are the sabot diameters nowadays? Regardless I know one and should be with the 452 would act like a PRB on steroids to a side of a deer ribs.
