I've got an old Bucheimer holster that I've been wearing for years to hold my Single-Six when I'm small game hunting. It is a straight drop and has about a 3" belt slot that snaps closed, making it simple to take on and off my daypack belt, plus being a straight drop I can use it crossdraw on my left side when I'm toting a shotgun or rifle.
I'd like to get something similar for my 45 Blackhawk, but all I can find in a snap-off is the Hunter 1100 series holsters. Are there any others out there that I'm missing?

I think the snap off holsters went out of vogue about 30 years ago. I do like the one Bauer Bros. that I have for my High Standard Model B.

Not real sure you can find one made for a Blackhawk unless you get real lucky looking in the make offer bin at a gun show or old gun shop.

Not finding just what I wanted is one reason I started making my own holsters; they might not look pretty, but they work for me.

Haven't seen a snap-on holster in awhile but I would think you could have one made any way you would want - just takes money;). Here's a company I've used and I think highly of his products and workmanship.

I don't know if you've done any leather work before or not, but holsters are pretty easy to make. Tandy Leather there in Harrisburg has everything you need to get started including the Al Stohlman booklet on making holsters. I started making them several years ago when I couldn't find what I wanted, and after making one or two you'll get a good handle on what you're doing and be able to make exactly what works best for you and your firearm. I haven't bought a holster since.

I am not totally clear on what your desired holster would look like.
Would any of these styles (in the correct size) satisfy you?

bullets.com currently has a closeout sale going on, and I don't know if they have one to fit your gun left in stock to sell, but if it was me, I'd certainly check. Just got 2 ctg. belts and 2 holsters from them, and if they have an El Paso Saddlery leather holster to fit, buy it. You'll never regret it! Their closeout prices on really good leather are unmatched for new stuff, and a good piece of quality leather, well sewn, should last your lifetime and probably whoever gets your guns after you're gone as well. You won't beat the fit to the gun of EPS, and stitching in leather tends to hold better than the stitching in nylon jobs, plus they're silent on the draw, which can be a big plus in the woods - a trait that Kydex will never match. Good holsters always wind up being appreciated over time, even if it IS sometimes hard to pull the trigger on them due to price. Nylon just never (seldom?) seems to last nearly as long as leather, so any savings assumed really doesn't work out over time. Just a FWIW.

A PM to the vendor sponsor here that owns and operates Whyte Leather would get you what you want at a affordable price IME.

Thanks for the input so far, I can't afford a custom job right now, I was hoping to keep this well under 100$.

Montana Charlie: those would be the kind I'm asking about. My old Bucheimer has the snap on the back of the holster for unhooking it from the belt, no strap running around the outside like the Hunter and S&W brand holsters do.

I see there is a Tandy leather store about an hour from me, I would like to get into leathercrafting even though I don't have time enough for my present hobbies!

Just ordered my third El Paso Saddlery holster. I've had one over 20 yrs (bought used), another I had made a few years back. I suspect all three will still be in excellent shape and easy on the eyes when I no longer have a use for them.

I can make you something like this with button snaps for less than $100.

My household has a total of five (5) El Paso Saddlery Tom Threeperson holsters and these holsters are used a lot.

Only ones I have seen that 'snap on' are the cheap hunter series. Not bad holsters, I have a couple. Problem I usually run into is one holster won't do it all. Have friends who buy the fitted kydex stuff, thats great if you have a whole pile of glocks. But what fits a 1911, wont do so well w a glock. And IM a lefty, which even further reduces my choices.

So I have shifted to making my own. Finished with a lefty of the old US military shoulder holsters. Changed so a glock will fit in it. Had to dig up that proper snap they used, one would think a holster place would sell them, nope had to go to a canvas place. I have found even store bought stuff I have to modify or fix. Seems as if no thought is put into some holsters. Bought one recently for my black hawk, must have been made for midgets. Any taller than me and would be issues w the straps being long enough, also no belt tie down.
