Hi All,
New member to the forum here. I just bought a Magma Master caster and have a couple of questions. First, what is the best set up for catching the bullets after they are dumped from the mold? Second, do you remove the molds from the machine after you are done casting or do you leave them in place and coat them with something to prevent rust?
Thanks. I'm sure that I'll have more questions as I get going, I'm just in the getting set up mode right now.

I cut a hole in the bench i mounted my machine to and installed bins to catch projectiles and sprues in different baskets. I made custom chutes to direct them to the required basket, but it works very well. Originally i set it up with a cloth and pegs to catch projectiles, then lift it out and dump into a can, but the chute is so much easier. Others directed theirs into a bucket of water with a fabric tube, almost like a big sock.
I don't remove my mold, i just give it a spray with WD40, i'm sure there are better products out there for this, but works for me.
You will love the machine, even more so if you automate it ;)

This is the thread I started. Many responded and several posted pictures of their set ups. I did also.

Thanks for your replies. After watching the videos and and reading VHoward's thread I have some ideas.
Thanks Tazza for the WD-40 idea. I really would like to try automate the machine. Maybe sometime in the future. I know that this is off topic, but my buddy and I backpacked up the East coast of Australia From Sydney to Cairns 30 years ago. Nice people and beautiful country.
Mike, I also like the heater vent duct. What a great idea.
Thanks,
Shorty

It is a nice place, less so in the middle of summer though, it gets a bit warm. That would have been an adventure, that is a pretty long trip back packing!
I used my machine for years by hand, the guys around here inspired me to go automatic, i haven't regretted it. When the time comes, read and ask questions then you will be a new member of the auto master caster club.
