I was watching the 7.62 > 35 Remington thread and figured out my process, then low and behold I ran into 3 boxes of factory Remington 200gr Core-Lokt, later in the same trip I found 100 Hornady factory brass. I have a bolt action 35 Remington project in my head that I had given up on, but now it is full steam ahead.
Any way here goes,
I form the LC 7.62 as follows:
1. Partial fl in 35 Rem die w/tapered .338 EXP.
2. Run into .44 mag steel size die.
3. Force into .44 mag steel size die with arbor press.
4. Turn the formed mini belt to .459.
5. FL 35 Rem die w/tapered .358 EXP.
6. Trim & outside neck turn.
I also turn rims to .459 to fit my TC Contender, but for my bolt project I will leave rim @ .473.

why not jut do a 358, and use 308 brass. If you want 35 Remington ballistics, just load it down to that. It will do anything a 35 Remington will do and more and no problem making the brass from 308. Plus all that working of the brass like you are planning, isn't going to do the brass any good. It might not weaken it, but I'll pay you for any good it does for it

I wrestled the 358 before, but I was thinking of doing a SR Mauser. Buddy had 358 reamer, I was going to use a Brownells Short chambered 35 Rem barrel. I had him make up some dummy rounds and the feeding wasn't what I wanted, so I decided on the 35 Rem based on that and the pressure issues. I like the way the 35 feeds, it is short but so is the 358. The barrel makers I talked to at the time didn't seem to thrilled making a 358 Win for a small ring. I am using a Turk 98 for my bolt action project. Anyway I now have enough 35 Rem brass to feed both my TC and a rifle. Grumpa, that is what I was watching, just sort of at the same time.

The case head and web are smaller in diameter than they are on a 308 case so no matter what sizing and modification you do your homemade cases are not going to be 35REM cases.

That being said the 35REM was designed for early auto-loading rifles so I'm not surprised that in your playing around
that you've determined that it feeds better...

But I'll also say in a stronger action the 358Win is a much more powerful cartridge than the 35REM,
every bit the equal of the 35Whelen but in short action package.

If you are messing with a Mauser why not consider a 9X57 using a .358 barrel.

It will FEED and you can find brass that can be easily formed to 9X57. Standard data for the 9X57 is mild. If you want more power you can get it with more pressure.

Well it's all over but the barreling, I got a Douglas barrel in 35 Rem and all I have to do is install. The 9x57 is an interesting idea. I like the idea of a bolt action 35 Rem, I don't know anyone that has one.
