Just wanted to let everyone know they got a batch in and look decent. Have one on order and will be my first Fin. I debated a day and a half and around lunchtime I lost the debate. Lets see how it matches up to the K31, 1896 Sweede, 1903's, Enfields, etc. Will be a blast finding out that is for certain!

well speculation is that these are Pat Burns inventory. most likely the more common ones, The mosin crate is supposed to be in on these too, but o agree for the price i wish i had the coin for another one, need the VKT to go with the sako

I've gotten to shoot a few of the M39s and they all were very goode shooters--even with cast.

MOA capable no problemo esp. with match grade jacketed bullets of the correct diameter.

If you want one and can afford it get one of the hand select VKT The ones I saw in the video were really nice.

IMHO the M39 is the best of them all. Mine outshoots all of my '03 Springfields and gives the Winchester 54s and pre-64 Winchester Model 70s a run for the money. Use NOE's clone of #314299 cast of COWW and sized .312 and lubricated with Lee Alox-beeswax with 30 grs. of 4895, 4064, RL15 or Varget and you can depend on 4-5" iron sight TEN-shot groups at 200 yards, on demand, with witnesses, any time you want

What is the twist rate on these Moisins??

CHeatermk3
09-11-2015, 11:26 PM
It's a metric number that works out to approximately 1 turn in 9.5 inches, a fast-for-caliber twist that really likes 200gn boolits. I've been experimenting with NOE's 312365 mould. The 314299s work very well too, sized for your bore.

From 7,62x54r.net: "Rifling is 4 groove, right hand, 1 in 9 1/2" (24.1 cm.) twist for all models except the M28/30 which is a 1 in 10" (25.4 cm.) twist."

Lots of info Here:

WARNING: Mosin-Nagant can be addicting(please don't ask...)

See, now this is exactly the wrong thing to be putting out here for me to read, when I was perfectly content thinking that paying $350 for basically the same rifles
I paid less than $100 for a few years ago was just silly,,,,,,,. It certainly sounds like they really do (on average) shoot just that much better than the better 91/30's.

Remiel - that is the speculation i have read as well on several boards (burns inventory). Mosin Crate also have an announcement of new rifles sometime in very near future...just might be some more and maybe nicer versions as he hand selects (i do believe).

Cheater - i did indeed order a hand picked VKT myself. Will post pics when I get it in. They are down to only having VKT standards right now that are graded but looks like they have more to grade in the future and post up for sale. And thanks for the information on twist rate etc...

hamish - I know exactly how you feel...sigh.

They have more coming once they ship current orders and then sort another batch. Glad there is a delay actually, maybe i will get mine in late next week and look it over and see if it is worth ordering another...maybe a sako this time.

Will post some good quality images when i receive for those on the fence.

148845 here is my Finn M-91 Tikka 1940 has a one piece, very nicely stripped stock. paid 325 for it and was worth every penny. has an undated Remington receiver with imperial eagle.
Also have an antiqued 1894 chatelleraux M-39 41 sako stock is solid but with plenty of scarring character. I think this one was definitely pointed and fired at the Ruskies. Both are shooters!

I ordered a hand picked VKT. It gets here Wednesday. I'm hoping the hand pick gets me a better than average stock. Don't really care about bluing or special markings but a nice bore would be great!

As promised. Picks of my 1944 Finn. Not perfect (and by no means expected it to be), and definitly a nice piece of history...just unwrapped it so pics are as i received it. Happy with the buy.

Edit: Have taken rifle apart and began to clean her. Bore cleaned up perfect with two swipes. Bluing is near perfect. Wood has character! After reading reviews from other customers and seeing their submitted pics i think i did better than average which is great.

The wood isn't split at the tang, so you're ahead of most people that got them from Classic! :)

Thanks for the tip Patrick. I noticed you are from Finland and thought I would ask what the unvarnished thoughts are of the M39 over there?

After the wars they were very popular. A lot of them were bored to 8,2 and 9,3x53R as hunters were not allowed to use the military caliber for hunting. When SAKO started the manufacture of the Finnbear rifle in 308 win the popularity gradually dropped as hunters wanted to use scopes. The bolt on the M39 is not really designed to work with a bent handle so hunters left the M-N in the wardrobe. They are still wanted as collectors items in orginal military shape as a part of our history. I have six different versions of the M-N and my favorites are the M27, M28-30 and the M39. Actually the stories here got me to plan shooting the rifles with boolits. Got a Lee .309 mold for my Winnie AE 30-30. Maybe the 28-30 with the tighter bore could be a shooter?

Some one local has a sako on armslist for 500. After hand select fee and shipping probly right around 400 bucks. Tac on a fee and tip for the ffl up to 425ish... is the 75 bucks worth being able to look at it? May be ill throw a 450 offer and see what happens.

I have a Civil Guards M28/30, a long-barrel M24 and the M39. All three are scoped. The M39 is the most accurate of the group, but the 28/30 is not far behind.

This Classic sale has been bad,

rust and cracked stocks yes it has, seen nothing but bad showing up on this deal, with a few exceptions. classic has been on my personal do not do business list for a long time, and its sad to see so many got bent over by a low life dishonest business!
