Been wanting a desert eagle for years, but never had the money. Well I lucked into a trade for this one. Said never been fired, but the bore has a bit of something in it, but the gun shows no other signs of being fired. Traded off some spare ar15's for it. Only had 700 or so in the ar stuff so I think I did pretty good. Think i'm going to have it cerecoated burnt orange and mill the extra slots in the scope rail. Worked 10 hour day, then drove 120 miles to get it then 120 miles home. Totally worth it. Just ordered a lee 6 banger in 310g rnfp gc and 1k gas checks. Think i'll powder coat them and see what happens.

It is the .44 actually. Just a barrel swap and mag change away from a .50ae. And yes, I will be buying that barrel for sure at some point. I just lucked into this one. Got to get that garage built before I put any more money in guns. (seems i said that before the last two) Come on permit, lets get this started. :D

Congratulations on getting a Deagle. If you ever get a chance to shoot it in low light conditions, get ready for a great light show. I've had one in .41 mag for many years, and I love that big brute. I hope that yours is as accurate as mine. 2" groups at 50 yards, all day long. Or until my arms get tired.

I was told a few years ago by a guy at Magnum Research not to use cast bullets in them due to the gas port. Even hard cast gas check. He said it would eventually clog up the gas port and render the gun inoperable.
Now before everyone piles on me I am just telling what I was told.
I know it kept me from getting one even though I had a friend that would get me one at cost.
The guy said hard cast would just take longer but that it would happen.
Its your gun so have at it. But don't weep if it happens and then have to shell out big bucks for a top unit.

I've heard those stories myself, however a powdercoated slug shouldnt be giving of any more than a copper jacket. If it does i'll hunt up some mercury or just soak it in half a dozen other solutions that will desolve the lead. I am planning on buying the .50ae barrel soon so i'll have a spare to play with while the other soaks. :D New barrels are less than 400.00

Sounds like a good project for you to jump into before your build job on the garage. I've shot the 50 AE version and it was exciting but within reason. It sounds like a good snag.

Groo here
The DE has rifling like glock, not cast friendly.
Mine is a horse, even heave loads are easy to handle [ if you can grip it.]

Got my 310g mold yesterday and gas checks should be here tuesday. Plan to powdercoat the boolits, if that doesn't work guess i'll buy some plated stuff. I have heard good things about the powdercoating though.

Was at our old range one day and one of the officers in our sheriff's dept walks up with one of those handcannons in 44 mag. I'm primarily a 38-9mm-45acp shooter so as usual I gave it a whirl. Sufficed to say actually enjoyed it and for the first time had a fairly decent group. One of my daughters friends actually shoots the 50AE when they can find ammo. Glad you got what you wanted for so long. Frank
