I just had a very similar experience. The USPS shuffled a package around every town within 10 miles for a week before finally delivering. Package and address label were both in fine shape when it finally appeared at my door. No rhyme or reason to it.

Wow! Isn't this status great?
I checked on it earlier when my mail carrier did not deliver it as expected. Status was arrived at Oakland, CA.
Now I can see they sent it back to Reno.
I am so surprised. I thought only Denver could send my mail on the world tour.
I'm sure glad I don't pay postage due by the mile!

89510 is my local hub. I had a package come from Vegas to Reno, where I live, then go to Memphis, then back to Reno, then off to New Jersey with a stop over in Tampa, and then back to Reno. I've had so many problems with my local PO they know me on a first name basis and they are on my speed dial .

My rural route USPS delivery is now done with contract labor. They get paid per volume of mail delivered.(using that term loosely). They take the package from the PO and suppose to make an attempt to deliver to the rural route recipient's door. If they fail to make a delivery then they leave a notice there is a package at the post office in your RR box.
The package is taken to a PO at the end of their route. The package is then taken from that PO to the regional distribution and redistributed to the PO where they originally took it from.
They get paid for carrying the package around all day and the regional distribution handles the package twice and it delays delivery to you by at least one day.
Perfect government economical protocol.

I basically Gave Up on the PO. anything Large never comes in good condition. They never pay any claims unless you have a valid Current receipt.all of my stuff has no receipt. Insurance is a waste of Time and Money
I found The Flat rate Box OK but not Great. Boxes still come in Busted and taped
I now only send Fedex Ground

Not too long ago a package from Midway Arms was shipped to me here in Idaho by priority mail - went via Anchorage AK, arrived here two weeks later, in a plastic bag. The inside and outside boxes had both melted from water. I'm amazed that the label was intact. Not impressed.

You know it's not only USPS. A few years back I had a bumper for a dodge 2500 coming via Fedex make three complete round trips between Cincinnati Ohio and Ontario California before making it to me. I'll tell ya all sometime I think I have an ex girlfriends working for USPS, Fedex, and UPS with all the delivery issues that I've had over the years.

I had a 64 lb MFR box just sit at the regional hub for over 5 weeks. They delivered it 2 weeks after I reshipped it. I guess they needed a door stop.

I ordered some poster prints from a person in Ca once. The 3"x36" cardboard tube took 2 weeks to finally get delivered in a horse shoe shape and contents damaged. The shipper filed a damage claim and send me another set of prints, just this time by UPS. This time the tube arrived within 4 days and in very good shape.Robert

At least you can see where it was. I have mailed stuff and it just disappears until eventually it shows up at the other end. If the item is valuable it is nerve wracking. I really don't know which is better, not knowing anything, or seeing it orbiting around you and not being able to get it.

Just got back from the P.O. ..... soopervizor say she goan talk to her fren in Florida and see what to do.

I was told it has the wrong zip encoded, ya dont say, My addressing is legible and accurate, theirs, not so much.

I ask about a refund on the two day rate, she almost lost the ability to speak English. I was really tempted to "mess wit her", but
decided to opt for freedom instead. I got some Bee-Yooots, probably would have arrested me and every one named abdool or yusef or
mohamid within a hundred klicks.

I shipped a radio front panel to a guy 3 weeks ago, so far they have claimed he doesn't live at the address given(he does) then they claimed they sent it back(they didn't), then it was in CA(it is supposed to be delivered in FL...) and now we have no clue where it is because tracking just stopped on it.

Besides watching that tracking list get longer, what have you done to rectify the problem?
Have you contacted the local post office with a request that they check on that parcel?
Does anybody in Reno know you have a problem?

A bunch of mine have been a day late consistently, Missing scans all sorts of oddities. Been noticing stuff like this for the last few months. Last one I ordered from Midway on Monday got scanned in to the originating PO but not out. Looked like it got stuck until it scanned in the main PO here in town today.

I ordered from Ca to be sent to N Carolina.

The package hit near the city it was sent to and at one time actually found the correct town BEFORE the USPO started saying the package was on the way to MY home in Illinois with a delivery date of last week.

Yes the package did finally get to the N Carolina address and I never saw a package here at my home.

I guess this is what we get when the USPO starts using independent contractors to save money.:twisted:
