i handload all of my guns. my 7-08 with jacketed bullets is on the third case trimming, each case gets around 4 or 5 shots. my other guns that shoot cast boolits haven't seen a case trimmer yet. i really like this!!! i am a newbie when it comes to cast boolits. no one told me about trimming cases!!! i've shot them going around 9 or 10 times and i have yet to trim them. this is great!!!
my 45-70 has a max. case length of 2.105" and the trim to length of 2.095". my cases, ready to reload, are an avg. 2.096". the cases already shot, but need a full length sizing die, are 2.090". my boolit is 405gr fbfn and a charge of h4198(35.0gr).
my 444 marlin has a max. case length of 2.225" and the trim to length of 2.215". my cases, ready to reload, are an avg 2.216". the cases already shot, but need a full length sizing die, are 2.217". my boolit is 275gr ranch dog and goes with either h4198(41.5gr) or rel7(39.0-42.0gr).
my 30-40 krag has a max. case length of 2.314" and the trim to length of 2.304". my cases, ready to reload, are an avg 2.306". all of my cases are ready to reload, sorry:). my boolit is a 165gr ranch dog and a charge of h4198(25.5gr).
i might have to have all of my guns shooting cast boolits! well, two of them are long range deer shooters(270win and 6.5 creedmoor).
i must be doin' sumthin' right. what about your cases? do they need trimmed or don't they?
