+ 144 rounds of CMP Greek Ball, 44 clips - and NO PAPER... $1200 total. (so much for "replace the truck" money...)

Didn't sight it in, but was minute of Nazi at 200yds at the BLM casual range on the way to scouting for Speed Goats.

And... just for fun... US vs. Germany - Take 2...

Swell looking rifle. Good score. Can one have too many ought-sixes?

Had any more fun with the Garand?

Had mine for several months now and between working my fanny off to get my house fixed up to sell, keeping up with teenagers and dealing with my second kidney stone in the last couple of months, I still haven't been to the range with it.

I need some vicarious thrills. Go shoot your Garand.

I hope your Garand shoots as well as it looks! Is that a Boyd stock or the original plank of wood? Sure looks nice.

When you get around to casting for it, you'll find several threads here on the subject.

The wood is obviously NOT original, but I don't know the make. Haven't torn it apart yet.

The Bolt is non-matching - but that's typical of CMP guns. (I'm guessing it's CMP because of the condition and the fact that it came with HXP ammo...)

The barrel is worn, but in spec. However, given the cost of .30-06, and the fact that a NEW Criterion Barrel + Fitting is around $300, and that I have 2K+ .308 laying around... I'm looking to put a "Navy" .308 barrel on it.

I converted mine to 308 when I started shooting high power with it. I used a dougas medium heavy countor 308 garand barrel 4 groove 1-10 twist and it is a shooter, Was an easy conversion and no real problems with it. If you go with medium heavy or heavy countour then the handgaurd needs to be modified to clear the longer large section of the barrel is all.
