I finally got to the range with the Contender 7TCU loaded with the 7mm soupcan 135 gr. boolits. Tested 8.5 and 9.2 grains of Unique. Both loads shot pretty well with the 9.2 gr. starting to flatten the primers a little, still rounded corners though and no extraction issues. So, it looks like I'm about maxed out with the Unique, I'm guessing the velocity at about 1500 judging by data I've seen posted by other people using Unique.
I would like to try some 2400 to get a little more velocity but still be cheap to shoot and have a powder to shoot heavy 357 mag. loads in the Contender and GP-100 as well. Anyone got any loads in the 7TCU with 2400?

Yup! I use the 130 gr lee for a very long time now.. ['94] Been using 14.0 gr of 2400 cci 400 pri. in RP brass. I load the original 130 gr sized .285, to just cover the top lube groove. Gives 1700 fps from my 10" bbl. w an extreme spread of 14fps. Sorry I can't find the group size just now! But I haven't changed the recipe since '94!!! BTW I never went over 8.0 gr of Unique.. so I may be conservative!! MV

Thanks racepres! Just what I'm looking for. I have a 10" and a 14" barrel. I was planning on starting with 10 grains and working my way up. 1700 fps from a 10" is pretty good, so the 14" should be even better.

I have Noted that my particular 7tcu bbl seems consistently faster than most for whatever reason... So, be careful.. MV

If you get a chance try some H322 in it. It works better than any other powder in mine.
