I was traveling for work last week and found a scrap yard right next to the business I was visiting. I stopped in to see what they had. They wanted $0.50 per pound for unsorted wheel weights, so I passed on those. Then the guy showed me a huge crate full of roof flashing and these large ingots. Anyone recognize the casting on the left? They are very soft - I can easily scratch with my thumbnail. I paid $0.80 per pound and the two ingots shown totaled out at 42 pounds.

Heckler & Koch uber tactical multi-use G3/MP5/Mk23 lead!

Sounds better than Hong Kong though huh!.... Which it might be what it is stamped for? Curious to know....

Plumbers lead no doubt. Soft and easy to scratch.

I would not have passed on the Wheel Weights.
They are getting harder to find at any price.
The lead was a good price, since there is no waste from stuff in it.
But now you have to get something to harden it up unless you are shooting BP ML's

I have a decent stash of wheel weight alloy that I blend with my soft lead for pistol bullets.

I passed on the wheel weights at the scrap yard because a quick sift through the buckets showed a high percentage of zinc and steel. I have another source for all lead weights at the same price.

Still curious what the "HK" stands for.

Maybe there is a secret message in those ingots, try heating them up to around 700* and see if any additional messages appear. Or those annoying mystery letters disappear, that would work too.

they make antimony as well as antimony lead ingots as well but since you can scratch it easy enough ...
