Just wondering what loads you are using for the gun?

Just wondering what loads you are using for the gun?
I don't have one but am also wanting to know. I am going to think 4759 will show up. It is what did best in my TC 30-30.

Kind of what I was thinking of trying in the gun.

I have one absolutely love it.

Great accurate gun.

I will post some loads tomorrow but one of my favorites is the 170 Grain Cast FP GC from an Accurate Mold running 1800 FPs propelled by a goodly dose of Leverrevolution. The penetration and mushroom of this in a 14 BNH is impressive. 14-16" in water soaked news print.

Another really nice nice load is the Sierra 125 grain Game King HP running over 2200 FPS from the gun.

Hornady FTX loaded to max pressure is also a dandy bullet.

I own ALLOT of guns and the BFR 30-30 is one of my most accurate and easy to shoot. Even with the heavier loads the recoil is really easy. Even off hand it is manageable and fun to shoot.

Pistol Packaging holster makes it easy to carry and on top of it is Sightmark green dot sight LED sight.

More to come tomorrow.

Loads this works in my gun work up these at your own risk. Start low work your way up.

150 Grain Hornady Interlock round nose. Loaded over 37.9 grains of LeverRevolution, CCI 250 primer 1948 FPS with deviation of 42....10 shot string.

Factory Remington core-lock 150 grain factory ammo......average 1778 FPS std dev....36

Factory Winchester 150 grain bullet .......... average 1803 FPS std dev........38

170 Grain Nosler RN Partition designed for the 30-30 loaded over 34.7 grains of Lever Revolution with CCI 250 primer average velocity of 1803 FPS...,...Std. dev.......36 (Hornady brass) This same load in a Henry 20" BNl ran 2302 FPS.

Hornady FTX 165 grain bullet loaded over 36.9 grains of Lever Revolution CCI Lrg rifle primer average 1962 FPS std dev of 16fps

170 grain FP GC from and Accurate mold over 34.0 grains of Lever Revolution and a CCI Lrg Rifle primer Averge of 1827 FPS std deviation of 37 FPS (hornady cases)

125 Grain Sierra Game King HP over 29.3 grains of IMR 4198 with Remington 9 1/2 primer Average Velocity 2103 FPS with Standard deviation of 29 FPS.

190 Grain Hawk jacketed RN over 33.5 grains of Lever Revolution with Remington 9 1/2 primer and Hornady brass. Average velocity of 1863 FPS with Std deviation of 63 FPS.

170 Grain FP GC from the accurate mold over 10.5 Grains of Unique and pufflon filler and 9 1/2 primer for an average velocity right at 1408 FPS and std dev of 27 FPS.

With every load listed above the cases just dropped from the cylinder in my gun. Every load was quite accurate at 100 yards the top end 170 grain cast FP being one of the overall best.

The felt recoil is really a pussycat in this gun and I can shoot this gun offhand really well.

This is is by far far one of favorite guns to shoot and hunt with. The Sightmark green diode sight makes it easy and to quickly acquire the target.

The Hawk 190 grain bullets are not the least expensive but they really mushroom and drive deep. Velocity with LR was really good from the handgun I would think you could do the same with a boolit cast from the correct alloy.

The other one I want try that I feel would be great performer in the BFR is the Nosler 150 Grain Ballistic Tip.

Took it out today. Best loads so far seem to be a 150gr WW SP over 28gr 2015br and the 311440 boolit over 18gr 4759. Just shooting at gongs today. Might make it back out tomorrow and set up a target and see what kind of groups it shoots. Also, get the chrony out and check velocities. This thing sure barks, but not alot of bite. Kind of like shooting an xp100 in 223

Yes exactly you will get good groups the gun definitely out shoots me. But good enough for deer and other types of four legged vermin. I shoot mine almost every single night. So now I have to get busy and load up some more ammo

Tried a few Leverevolution loads at the range. Man, what a fireball. Between it and powder grains hitting my cheek and the horrid trigger pull (5 ish lbs) I had plenty of twitches. Would end up with three in a good group then have two out of the group. May be one 2" high and one 2" low. Also, my 60+ yrs eyes didn't help. Will have to play with different powders and do a trigger job on the thing. The boolits that show potential are the K-31 mod 188ish gr boolit, the Saeco 315 clone, and the MX2 clone boolits. All final sized to .309" The k-31 boolit had 3 in an inch @50 and the MX2 had three in 1.5". Did I mention that the thing was LOUD with Leverevolution.

Yes indeed it is loud and the LR powder is little slower so yes you get some significant burn outside the barrel.

Heavier cast seem to shoot the best in my gun as well.

Went to the range again today. Shot at 50yds. Tried the Saeco 315 clone, the k-31mod and the NOE RD 150 and 180's along with a Lee GB design @198gr w/3 crimp grooves, that has shot well in my 30-30 rifles. The only one that shot a decent group was the Saeco 315 clone with the k-31 mod a bit behind. All except the 150 RD loaded with 31 gr of AA2495 and the 150RD over 29gr AA2015br. Wind was blowing about 15mph from 9 O'clock. Will try some 4759 with the RD designs. Still need to do a trigger job. Can't do a whole lot about my 60+ yr old eyes
shooting iron sights.

Iron sights that top group not bad. Mine seems to really like the 170 Grain FP GC from and Accurate mould. Cast just little softer than #2. About BH of 16. Drove them up to a max of 1800 but best accuracy was around 1600-1675 FPS plenty enough for deer.

I haven't shot my big BFR 45-70 for a long time. Haven't shot my .475 for a long time either. Just nothing needs done except softening the boolit noses on the 45-70 for deer.
We shot my SBH because I am going to let my friend hunt with it this season, he fell right into it. I, even made a new sling for it so he can keep it on him in a tree stand.
Being a glutton for punishment, I seem to grab the .500 JRH more. It is so amazing I can't put it down.
I would love to get the 30-30 but decided nothing will ever leave my safe again. I wish I had those other guns that I sold back.
