Hi Guys,

I acquired a new batch of .44 brass, and found a couple of odd pieces of .44 mag brass stamped "REM-UMC .44 MAGNUM" obviously its no older than 1955, but modern Remmington brass is stamped "R-P" . Remmington has owned UMC since the 1880's but in modern time they use the R-P stamp(for Remmington-Peters).

Any ideas on age of the "REM-UMC .44 MAGNUM" brass??

Also I found a few pieces of Federal brass stamped "FC 44 MAG" again this is a departure from their normal stamp for .44 mag that is "FC .44 REM MAG" Notice the "REM" part is missing. Any ideas on the FC brass age ?

Remington changed to the R-P designation sometime in the early 1960's.
Don't know about the FC brass.

Interesting, I was decapping some 9MM in preparation for cleaning and ran across the following REM-UMC on top and 9m/m Luger below. Would be cool to hear the explanation to this head stamp. Anyone got some thoughts?

If I remember right, it was the early 70s that Federal started adding the REM part to the head stamp

Found another one of them today, even took a photo of it. I think this was range pickup but I'm not sure could have been mixed in some once fired I bought a while ago.
