well picked up a .243 today. i have no idea why... lol but it was a good deal. got the rifle, 400 rounds of brass, 200 bullets, and dies.

anyone got any good loads for the .243? thinking of trying varget cause its what i got on hand. winchester model 70, new stainless barrel, Timney Trigger and target scope blocks, 25 rounds down the new barell. since it had the target blocks i had to put the 14 power Unertl on it..... :mrgreen:

Nice! What do you intend to use it for other than looking at it? I assume some target work? How about deer hunting? Varmints are a given. I have loads, let me know what you want.

Nice looking rig. I developed 2 loads for my wife's M70 sporter .243 with 22" barrel; a varmint load and a deer/antelope load. Both use WW cases and WLR primers. I use the Speer 75 gr HP over 41 gr of H4895 at 3400 fps and 3/4 moa accuracy. For deer/antelope I use the hornady 100 gr SPBT over 48 gr of H4831SC for 3011 fps and moa accuracy. Varget should also be a very good powder with the 70-85 gr bullets but I've just not got around to testing it yet.

42.5 gr IMR 4350 under a 100 gr Hornady SP, W-W cases and Fed LR primers, Have shot this load for 25+ years in a Rem 700 w/22" sporter-weight barrel and it still prints consistently under 1" if I'm doing my part.

i use aa2700 on the lighter bullets.

Ya, that scope don't belong on that rifle, It would look much better on my Buffalo Classic, but with Black rings :mrgreen: Ever think of selling the scope, give me a PM.

wont sell the scope ive turned down $1000 a few times for it. i like my lyman target spot 25 power also. turned down $950 for it today at a gun shop. the scope goes on my BSA ISU Martinni.

i picked up 1 pound of varget, brick of primers, and a box of 70 grain blitzkings. ill see how she does. im going to sight in for 200 yards. -chris
