Things been getting a mite crispy here in south central cheddar land. Monday night we had some concentrated rain move through, dropped 6/10ths. Could use more. Looks like the Kettle Moraine got a good soaking last week during the heat. The swamps need it badly. MUCH better than 2013. Better than 2014, too.

Some reason, the squirrels were out this morning. Turkeys as well.

I see a system coming up, SW to NE, it's pushing eastward. Come on, boys!

I dumped my rain gage this morning, it was almost 6 inches but that is the rain for the past week. I don't check it every day.

Center portion of N.C. is having a regional drought. Areas east and west of us have fairly normal rainfall but our area has only had 2 decent rains all year. My creek went dry 2 months ago and our shallow well pump went dry last week. Local gardens are looking terrible cept for the folks who heavily irrigate theirs, mine looks horrible.

Sad but true, my dogs killed a muskrat in my backyard a couple days ago, never seen one within a mile of my place before, the closest pond is 1\4 mile away..the creek it to small to support a muskrat. Poor fella was coming to the dogs pond in my backyard..a 6 ft kiddie pool i keep out for the dogs in the summer. Man do we need some rain.

I checked the rain gage when I got home from work, another inch today. Been raining almost every day for a week. This is normal when we get in this afternoon convective thunderstorm pattern. It is late coming this year, I was about to break out the hoses and water the lawn a week ago.

We got a pretty good soaking yesterday. Rained off and on during the day, at times, it was one of those rains that everything looks gray.

Still over 5" short for the year, and we ended last year with a 4" surplus. I saved over $400 in the last 3 months on lawn service. Of course that didn't make the service guy happy. The grass sounds like walking on tater chips.

Just a sprinkle but it's 71F now. Got 20# of 40SW coated and cooked this morning.

Last rain we had was 6" (That was 6" between each rain drop!) and I don't remember when it was. The trees are so much in stress, that if you park your car in the "shade" you end up with so much tree sap on it, it feels like the doors are glued shut. And with the ash falling from all the wild fires, you have to constantly clean your windows so you can see to drive. Due to water shortage, not supposed to wash your car (with a hose) in your driveway. Wonderful coating on the truck, tree sap and wild fire ash.

We're even getting rain in New Mexico. After years of drought we're way ahead of the historical average this year.
