Blammer

OK, so I got a new toy.
Never had a big bore pistol before, unless you count the 357 mag. (didn't think so...)
Never cast pisto boolits before either.
Never slugged a brl and cylinder either.
So I got a big learning curve ahead of me.
After reading up and getting a few sample boolits from fatnhappy and sundog.
And eventually getting 4, yea 4, 44 cal moulds...
I get to get a good pistol and start working up a load for it.
Oh yea, let me not forget that I traded some stuff for some 44 mag brass from singleshotbuff. :)
So I trade into this pistol, and luck into a good scope for on the cheap.

After some discussion with others on what to shoot and try first I give fatnhappy's 277gr 429640's a whirl first with 2400. 15gr was pretty good group at 25 yds, but upped it to 16 gr and got this group at 25 yds.

And here is that same boolit at 100 yds

Notice the oblong holes in target at 100 yds.
I suspect if I up the velocity a bit they may straighten out an the group may shrink.
I'll try that next.
The next load I set up was just for plinking and having fun. So I used sundogs 250gr plain base boolits he sent me, loaded up with 19gr of 2400 as a starting load.
I never imagined i'd be so accurate.
25 yd target.

easy shooting and accurate.
I'll chrony it later and I suspect it may be good enough for deer as is!
so all in all I had a really good day at the range and was really pleased with my 44!
