I found this vise, if that is the proper term, in the basement, and have not been able t find any manufacturer information on it.

Triplex, and "Made in France" are the only marking I have found.

So, can anyone shed some light on what kind of vise it is, or anything about the company?

The help is appreciated.

Thank you,
G

Appears to be a machinist swivel vise. Most probably imported by the Triplex Machine Tool Co. A little about the company can be had here: http://www.lathes.co.uk/amestriplex/

Thanks for the link Ken.

In reading the info, it sounds like most of the 3:1 lathes were made in the earlier part of the 20th century. This vise doesn't look or feel near that old. I wonder if different parts of the company existed at different times.
