When I get ready to cast, I weigh some different lead pieces, melt it own, flux and get busy.
At the end of my session, I find my boolits mostly heavier than I expected.

With 20 lbs of hot lead, do you check the weight of the boolit while casting and make adjustment or go with the mix you have and hope for the best.

How much heavier? Are the bullets as cast otherwise satisfactory?

When I cast I have already decided what alloy I'm going to use for the particular bullets I'm moulding up. That way I pretty well know what I'm ending up with. What bullets are you casting?

I make my mix of alloy then use it. [I make more than I'm gonna use]

if you have a changing weight I'd bet a lot of it is from the mold temperature.
if you do a bell curve of your casting session and weigh them in order from start to finish you'll see where/when your change comes in.
mold temp, alloy temp, adding more lead or whatever.
